Just a list…

With the intent to schedule my next round of Dr visits I decided I needed to rethink through what has happened to date…so the following list is more for my own mental clarity. Sorry for the lack of pizazz.

To recap…since November 14th, I have:

-been to my General Pracitioner four times and spoken to him or his staff on the phone…well I’ve lost count…he believes I have hemochromatosis and wants me to see a new hematologist for a third opinion

-had an ultrasound of my pancreas, liver, kidneys, gall bladder and aorta…all came out normal

-had four blood draws for various blood-type tests, including a genetic test to see if I had the markers for hemochromatosis…more on this later I have to research…

-had two visits with hematologist…who does not believe I have the disease…but wants to test my blood every two months just in case…oh and he won’t provide phlebotomy…the rub is the doctor who does believe I do have hemochromatosis can’t provide phlebotomy

-had one visit to the gyne with the works…it turns out I might not be reproducing due to the hemo…this doctor believes it may cause my pituitary gland to be out of whack…I have to schedule an appointment for the third day of my next menses for another blood test. I hate to admit it, but this may have to wait until February. Our insurance has changed and I already have too much going on in January

-had one echocardiogram which I assume is normal because I have never heard anything from an MD per se, but the tech who performed the test said she believed I didn’t have anything to worry about (I think she’s actually not supposed to say anything, but I’m glad she did.)

-had one phlebotomy= one pint of blood withdrawn, I can schedule another phlebotomy after Jan 14

-one prescription of generic Prilosec (for ulcers), I am currently not taking this prescription…it was from the hematologist and I do not confidence in his diagnostic abilities…I’ll wait until I see the GI doctor

-four diagnoses: gall bladder disease, ulcers, and hemochromatosis
and I guess “no hemochromatosis” is a diagnosis too

This month (January) I am due for…
one phlebotomy, one visit to a new hematologist, one visit to a gastro-intestinal specialist, and a teeth cleaning at the dentist
